I want to paint my tank and side covers...and was thinking about going chrome. most xj's ive seen that are painted nice have all the things that are chrome on my bike painted the same color as the tank...other idea was to do the tank flat black because of the "too much chrome" factor... any suggestions let me know!

Chrome should be for trim - for the shear fact of FINGERPRINTS and DIRT.

A fully chrome tank is going to be real hard to keep clean, not to mention sitting at a red light with the sun in the right spot, RIGHT in your face!

Looks nice, but still think it's impractical.

Alot of the old bikes had them.
I like the look of the leather/rubber knee guards on the tanks.
