I need info, quickly! I have an 82 seca 750, and I found a guy on the interwebs selling a bunch of 81 seca parts. Does anybody know how much changed from one year to the next? Specifically, the dreaded right side cover and the seat. I need a quick response 'cuz I already emailed him about the parts, and I'd feel pretty dumb sitting with a box of parts that won't fit my bike!
    Thanx!!
PS Is there anywhere here that lists info like part compatibility? It would be nice to know what options are available for cheap modifications.

I cant help with those parts questions, but you can go to any internet seller of parts, like Len here, and look up part numbers for each year of same part and see if they match. Once in a while, some change to a part is irrelevant so you get a false negative. But a match is a match; no false positives. Happy shopping.

I think Ron Ayers is set up so once you have a part number, you can see every bike it fits, IIRC.

I think I should just check Len's catalogue for every question I have. I think the guy might be a freakin' genius! Also, I'm not sure who Ron Ayers is. Does he have a site too? What's the info?

But I looked and it comes up a little short on our older XJs. They have been really useful to me on my 98 DR350 and my current project 04 DL650. For XJs, Len is THE source though I do go to other sites for the ease of using the parts fiches for data mining.

The Seca 750 had no significant changes during the model run. The only part that I can think of that will not interchange is the steering damper from the '83- '84, which willl not fit on the earlier frames.

That sounds about right. 1981-82 front brake systems are a little bit different (bracketry and hard lines) from the 1983 models. Control switches (on the handlebars) have some small cosmetic differences. Paint colors of body parts (tanks, side covers, fender) is different, but the actual part is the same.
