    Hey,

Most of the things i need I'm getting from Len, but I'm putting new pads/rotors/tie rod ends/ball joints on a friends car and was ordering a bunch of stuff anyway so i looked and saw these:

    Hmmm.

Do they look decent? Do the plugs cross reference the ngk bpres or whatever it is? i cant recall off the top of my head what the exact number is but yeah.

    Thanks guys

No way on the Autolite plugs; and that's a sealed-beam AUTO headlight, it's up to you.

Rock Auto is way cool until you get a whole list in your cart, and go to check out. Then you find out that the stuff is shipping from 3 or 4 different locations, and you're going to be charged shipping from EACH. It quite often negates the savings, and has limited my business with them.

They carry NGK plugs and FRAM CH6003 filters; but they won't be coming from the same place. Check it out.

Yeah, but overall they are still saving a bunch though. I wish that i could find a cheaper place in terms of shipping though.

is that fram filter a good one for my bike?

    Thanks fitz

Check your local auto parts store. Most of them stock NGK plugs and Fram or Wix oil filters for our XJs (CH6003 and CH6004 are popular filters). Some of them can even get brake pads if you give them the EBC part #. The Orileys near me will match any price I can find on the web.

    99% sure their autolite 63.
my Advance has CH6003 but has them with small engine filters, that makes them hard to find in the other isle

    4 NGK BP7ES
Rock Auto (with 3-7 day wait)
    6.16+2.83=8.99

My local Advance Auto store (5 minute wait)
    2.49*4=9.96

    1 Fram CH6003
Rock Auto (with 3-7 day wait)
    3.83+5.05=8.88

My local Advance Auto store (5 minute wait)
    4.99*1=4.99

The only way RA is cheaper is if you are buying bulk, say a dozen filters at a time, or 20 plugs at a time.

I'll stick with the local guy. Even if they don't have them in stock they can get them in about 12 hours.

It's the only one I know of that comes with both o-rings, one for the filter cover, and one for the filter bolt. The WIX filter only comes with the o-ring for the cover.

All of the "airhead" XJs use the same oil filter; the FRAM CH6003 is popular because it comes with both o-rings, is widely available and not expensive.

Both WIX and K&N offer compatible oil filters as well; not sure if they come with the o-rings though (I just use the FRAM.)

Want a real laugh? Call a Yamaha dealer and get a price. When I first got the bike I started to buy one at a dealer; when the guy told me it would be $18 I handed it back and said "see ya."

Oh, and the spark plug converter says:

    NGK BP7ES
    Autolite 4252, 52, 53, or 62

But I'd still stick with the NGK - personal opinion.

Gotchya. Well in the future, I will deff be going to advance(i like advance the best, the people at my local one are just great)

This time, since for one - Its winter and time doesn't really matter, and second, when i add the plugs and filter to my cart, it doesn't change the shipping costs of if i hadn't bought them. so free shipping for me compliments of a friend, yay :D

No if only they stocked the fuel and air filters too, lol

Well, if I weren't paying for shipping, then yes, it's a good deal.

I'd even buy two sets so I had them for next time.

Glad to see you stuck with the NGKs.

Yeah, but you paid something like over $68 bucks shipping for the whole order.

I'll bet a little judicious parts shopping between AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly's and Napa would have got you the same list for a smaller bottom line.

Or, gotten better brake pads and spent the same amount.

That right there (5 shipping locations for 8 line items) is what limits my business with Rock Auto.

Probably the same warehouse(s) it ships from if you go to the advance auto parts and ask them. Mine can get what they don't have overnight usually and not charge anything for shipping because it just comes with their restock order.

I like to use local stores that way I can take the part in with me to make sure the guy using the computor gets me the right part. The furthest I have to go is about 10 miles, if they don't have it they can get it next day no extra charge. I like free shipping

i tallied it all up from advance and it came to around 278 and change, excluding the stuff for my xj

im going to try getting them to price match the stuff tomorrow and we;ll see i guess.

the biggest saver is the cheaper tie rod ends and ball joints, they were 30 for the t.r.e and 40 for the b.j at advance. brake stuff came out about even, excpet the pads. and the plug wires were 20
