I have an 82 maxim 650 and i have been wondering if i can take off the grab bar? to me it looks as if it helps support the rear struts but i dont really know. So has anybody taken the rear grab bar off an 82 maxim650 and all is still good?

I have an 81 xj650, they are basicly the same setup I believe. You can remove it, but you will need to add washers/space to cap nut for shocks to take up the space left from the grab bar. Also, you will loose the seat lock assembly. Hope this helps with your decision.
