I have a 82 xj maxim 750 I changed the tank to a hd sportster peanut tank the petcock on my xj tank has 2 connectors on it 1 for the main fuel feed and the other goes to the rubber intake between the carb and the cylinder the hd tank has only 1 connector the main fuel feed so can I bypass the second connector or can I get a petcock with this second connector on it

the second hose is a vacuum line. The fuel flow is shut off to the carbs when the engine isnt running this way. If the sportster tank only has the fuel line then its not a vacuum actuated petcock. It should instead have an "OFF" position. You will need to cap the nipple on the intake manifold that line normally goes to.

Just remember to put it back to "Off" when its sitting or you'll have an empty tank and a airbox (or pods) full of gas.
