pickup coil difference

    Does anyone know if there is a difference in generator rotors for a 86 xj700 & xj750? rebuilding motor and not sure if i can use the old one. someone told me there might be a timing difference??

    Checking on www.cmsnl.com the part numbers for the items for the 700 and 750 are different.
    But, the part numbers for the 700 and the 1983 900 are the same.
    So that might be the way to go.
