1982 XJ650 with 7,777 miles. Much needed TLC to be administered over the next couple months. Picked this up for $200. Crankcase filled with gas, owner did not want to mess with it. I will!

Nice find, well worth 200$. You going to keep it stock or change it up some?

Going to keep it stock, with the possible exception of exhaust and the seat (only because it will depend on what seat/seat cover I can find that I like...stock is preferred).

I went the "bobber" route with my 1981.

    That went from this:

It was fun. But I've grown to like stock or slightly modified bikes. Maybe I'm getting old!

Actually I have way too many other projects to get into another one like that.

You should call her 'lucky 7s' or something. Lots of potential there either path you take with it, can't go wrong for 200 clams.

    Thanks for the comments.

The seat has a couple splits and cracks and generally feels kind of dried out. I suspect it's going to split out worse with any use.

Good score; +1 on keeping it stock (or close to it.) Easier to tune and maintain.

For seats, I highly recommend Sargent's Cycle http://www.sargentcycle.com/custserv.htm they've done two for me so far and they're not expensive. A "stock" recover job cost only a few bucks more than what it would have cost me to do it myself had I bought a new cover online somewhere, and they do fantastic work.

I sure wish that "big brother" didn't remove all pics. I can see everything but pictures at the office. I'll have to peek once I get home this evening but it sounds like an excellent deal!!

    Congrats!
