Here's what I was looking at:
    http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... _maxim.htm

But, now I see that this is almost definitely wrong; They do say inline four, but they also say four valves per cylinder.

    This looks more accurate:
    http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcyc ... -XJ400.htm

How do you fit a 51mm piston into a 49.95mm bore? Or are you saying it's a 49.95mm piston and a 51mm bore?

Regardless, once you have the correct bore size, and the ring thicknesses, you should check with Total Seal to see whether they have a suitable ring set.

That is rigth the piston is 49.95 and the bore is 51 mm and the rings thicknes is 2.5 mm. The problem is that I´m in Chile.

Igor - what Paul is saying is that you will have to contact Total Seal and give them your specifications. If they have a suitable ring set available, they will be able to send them to you and you could probably pay by credit card.

If they don't have them perhaps you could ask them where you might be able to get a set.

This is the approach I would take (also being outside the US). I have the same hassles as you trying to get parts but haven't failed yet. Admittedly I haven't needed to get piston rings but everything else I have needed I have got either from Chacal, my local Yamaha dealer or ebay.

Like me, you need luck too!

No, they had some in the 47.8mm range as well. Just email or call them.

You could look at the "XJ4Ever - Supporting Vendor" forum for parts lists. There is a thread titled "XJ MAXIM, SECA, AND TURBO PARTS CATALOG" and a forum member here could probably sell you piston rings for your XJ400. His user name on the forum is "Chacal". Engine parts are on page 2 and 3 of this online 'catalog' but I don't see XJ400 rings. If you send Chacal a PM (private message) he may be able to help you.
