Poor driving? Check the torque on the shocks.

I recently wanted to install some aftermarket shocks and while removing the old ones, I noticed that the bolts were way too tight. When I realized the new shocks had the wrong bushings, I reinstalled the old ones so I could drive while waiting for the replacements. So I looked up the torque for the mount: 30nm. I thought, "That's not enough for such a safety-relevant mount." I looked up a second source: 30nm. So I tightened them to 30nm and was quite surprised after the first drive. The XJ handles noticeably better now. Before, it had a pretty stubborn straight-line trajectory and wanted to be pushed into corners. Especially when braking, it was sometimes stressful. But now—as I said—much better.

    Check your shocks ;)
