OK, after a detailed cleaning of the carbs and replacement of all rubber, my bike runs! What a relief. After minor adjustment to the sync screw for the #4 carb, the bike was synced. I guess the time and patience on reassembly was worth the effort. I've lucked out on float adjustment too, I just verified levels. No adjustment required. All things considered, I think things are going much better than expected. Now I only have two small questions.

I set the needles 2.5 turns out and stuck the colortune plug on and each cylinder seemed spot on. The thing I can figure out is that I never saw orange flame unless I blipped the throttle. It's a nice deep blue and no smoke.

I went for a ride and about 10 minutes in, the idle went up to 3K from the original 1200 and stayed there. Sometimes It would drop to 2K for a bit. I came back and adjusted the idle knob down to about 1200 and called it a night. This morning, I gave the bike about half choke, hit the started and it came to life with just a bit of roughness. I only let it run for about a minute, but it was as easy to start as my Roadstar, so success?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks. :)

Read the spark plugs for fine tuning the mix screw.

You are probably still slightly out of sync.
