Potential to bypass Neutral and Side Stand switches until I can get the bike running?

Hey, so a week ago I bought an '82 XJ650 Maxim that has some fairly serious issues. Namely no Carbs at all, which I have some on the way. But while waiting for those to come in, I have been trying to work through the electrical system to try and get everything figured out and make sure it has had maintenance such as oil, filter, and Diff fluid changed. Big thing with the electrical seems to be ignition oriented. I got a Kill/ start/ throttle assembly from the Junkyard as mine had been molested with a soldering iron and the dial for the kill was gone. The Start button has never been functional, though I can hear a click when power is applied via Jumpbox with key on (which is a big flat blade as it came with no keys) This click comes from a small, plastic black box that is supposed to be up under the tank between the ignition coils. This box has a hole in it that is actively dumping what I assume is rust out of it on top of my valve cover. I never did get the starter solenoid to properly work without jumping with a screwdriver, But I took it apart to look at the inside of it, and it was a mess of brown and green fuzzies, so that got replaced with a Button for the time being, But I would like this bike to be properly working, not just hobbled together, though I could make it work fine that way.

I am mostly how I would go about bypassing the Neutral switch as it doesn't seem to work, and its leaking. And the side stand switch as it doesn't seem to be functional either. Now I am wanting to make them work again in the future, but I am 24, in an expensive state, with my own place and 3 vehicles now and have my fair share of bills to pay. So it might be a little while to make all the fixes and repairs happen, but I do like having things working properly, not just put together with bubble gum and electrical tape.

This is that relay that is supposed to be mounted by the coils

If you pull the side-stand relay, that effectively bypasses that feature (or so I hear). At that point, I wonder if it will pay attention to neutral. I know if it senses the bike is not in neutral AND the side stand is down, that creates a no-start condition. However, with the side-stand bypassed, you may be good to go.

the relay pictured in your post is the indicator relay, (it gives you the bulb wattages on the casing)
