I recently acquired an 81 seca 550. I have it down to the frame and was wandering what swingarm I can use to get a wider tire on the rear. I can arrange getting a spacer made for the front sprocket if needed. I would like to have a 140 rear tire if possible. If the 140 isn't doable I will settle for anything wider than factory.

Too wide throws off the handling; this is supposed to be a sportbike, remember?

That being said, it's possible that the box-section Radian swingarm might allow a slightly wider rear. The Maxim has a 130 but it also has a 16" rim.

I'm running a 4.00X18 on the rear of one of my 550 Secas and it's plenty wide; I'm going to go to a 120 from the stock 110 on the other bike soon.

Like Bigfitz said the 130 tire is good for that size rim. I have put many a mile on the racetrack with that size and never had a problem. I have since put a Radian swinger on with minor mods needed, it is just a little longer.
