Here's the plans for my bike. I'm going to turn the bike into a oldschool streetfighter. I took this project on when my dad gave me his 82' XJ650R SECA last week. He bought the bike originally when he was stationed in the phillipines serving in the U.S. Air Force. The bike was made for the Japanese Domestic Market. I told him I would modernize it for him before 2009. Here's Both performance and asthetic aspects in layout form.

    Performance:
    *Dunlop K491 Elite II 120/90 x 18 Rear Tire
    *Maxxis Promaxx v1 m6002 100/90 x 19 Front Tire
    *MacPerformance Exhaust Full Kit
    *JetCommander Stage 3 Kit
    *K&N Individual Air Filters
    *ForzaMDI Rear Spring Kit
    *NGK High Performance Spark Plugs
*Britsh Imported Stainless Steel Brake Lines
    *EBC Performance Rear Brake Pads
*Keihin Roundslide CR Sidedraft Racing Carburetor Assembly (Maybe )

    Asthetics:
    *Remove Mirrors
    *High-Gloss Black Paint Job
    *HID Headlight Kit
    *Polish All Dull Metal Surfaces
    *Black Powercoat Wheels
    *Polish Wheel Lips
    *Fabricate Fiberglass Rear Seat Cowl

I need input on any mods I could do to up the performance of bike, and any cool suggestions on any asthetic mods that will give me that oldschool streetfighter look I'm going for. Thanks.

You could go up to a 130 rear tire. If you notch the swingarm--150. With your budget--sell the 650 lump and find a 900 complete with carbs. Search the modification forums for ideas that others have done.

Sounds like a similar list to what I had 5-6 months ago. I wish you the best of luck with all of your plans.

Remember that a stage 3 Jet kit is exactly that, "Stage 3". What does that really mean anyways? The reason I say this is that every exhaust is different, and every bike is different (vacuum at cylinders, etc.), so why not do your mods to the mill, intake, and exhaust, and then buy the right jets to do it accordingly. PM me if you are interested in a person to help out with the carbs as I recently had a great experience with a rebuilder that charges a fair price.

Also, with regards to the brake lines. What brand are you getting? Where from? Just curious as I had a rough time, and have a few pointers regarding this subject from a recent ordeal.

Good luck, and I hope that you accomplish your goals with this bike, as I'm sure that you will enjoy it!

    Happy Riding

That would be awesome but, I'm trying to keep the xj650 motor just mod the crap out of it. Porting sounds dope but, finding a shop in my area that's gonna do it would be tough. I'm going to really look into the performance carbs/port work...I'm gonna take some pictures once I get the bike sanded smooth and primered at my friends shop I'll take some pictures for everyone (middle of next week). I haven't put in any orders on parts. Still debating which toy to sell to make it happen. I think im going to sell my EG b18c swapped civic. I'll never get to see her turbo'ed; it's all for a good cause. We'll see how it goes .

Keeping the 650 for sentimental reasons? Gas mileage?

An old adage claims theres no replacement for displacement.. If the sole purpose of this thing is to haul balls, then why not go big?

It'd be interesting to see some R1 owners confused as you match up with them on the straights.

hahahah my old man auto teacher used to always give us that speech "...there is no replacement for cubic displacement!" along with other choice lines such as "...chrome don't get you home!" he was a goofy retard.
