I took my 19 year old daughter to the DMV today to take her riding test today. She passed, I'm so proud. It was something she wanted to do since she was little. She is not little anymore. She rode the XJ1100 and aced the riding test. There were two other guys there with small 250 and 500cc bikes and she handled the XJ with confidence. Durring the test a few ladies stopped to watch and applauded when she finished, she was grining from ear to ear, so was I. We went on a short ride afterwords just for fun, it would have been longer but it was pushing 100 deg here.

Yea schooter, I was supprised how well the bike fits her.She is right at home with it. Though I am a little scared to let her ride on her own. She has the same problem I do with a heave right foot and a quick throttle hand.

My 17 year old daughter keeps asking to ride the 1100's and I keep saying NO! She does just fine with the 750 (She will be taking her DMV test in the next couple of weeks along with my wife)

Congrats on her passing the test.

I felt the same way, she bugged me enough that I let her ride the 1100 in our neighbourhood. It did not take long for her to "become one with the bike". After a few trips around the streets and a trip to the local community college to ride the motorcycle course. I could see she was more than ready. The 1100 fits her very well, at 6 foot tall the XJ700 was a little small for her.

    Congrats to your "baby girl"!
You guys need to take an overnight mountain trip to the Parkway. It will give her all kinds of confidence and be an unforgettable experience for both of you!
    Ride safe.

I'd like to ride the parkway, I have just finished installing two motorcycle rails in my trailer just for that purpose. I think this Fall I'll plan a trip.

mlew ..congrats to you and your daughter..but...what about a bit more protective gear on you two, even if it's hot. My daughter just got her car license so she's got a cage around her and that scares me. That's all, reduce th risks, hope you take this as a positive..
