Q on motor paint

    I will paint the motor over the winter.
    Some photos the whole jug is painted some just the bottom.
    Mine looks like just the bottom was originally painted.
    What was the original paint scheme?

    Looks like the one on the right (the one with the painted fender) is more accurate. I like the Seca 550 chrome front fender tho. Here are a couple of pics; one from a magazine road test from back in the day, and one of an all original (24 miles only) bike that was just up on eBay. Both substantiate the whole mill being black.

    I bought my 650 new in 1983 and the engine was all black. If you are going to spray bomb it yourself," Plastikote" low gloss black engine enamel is very close to the original colour used on these engines.

    I have attached the URL for an interesting article on painting a 70's vintage Honda twin engine. Take a look there might be some useful information for you. Worst case you get to see a beautiful absolutely perfectly painted mc engine.
