question about valve cover gasket

    I am needing a valve cover gasket for my 81 xj650 maxim it appears the one thats on there now is rubber im wondering if i can change to just a regular paper type gasket, or do i have to have the rubber or do i have to have both?

    YICS motors have a molded rubber gasket; non-YICS motors have a paper/fibre gasket with separate "half moon" rubber plugs for the cam cutouts.

    It depends on the style of motor you have; they're not interchangeable.
