I am working on the major engine castings and have a question about the level of detail required to represent the cast parts. For example on the oil pan there are numerous aluminum casting paths, indexing posts, and minor ribs / indentations. These features are completely irrelevant to using the model as a teaching tool, showing how to assemble the motor etc. if I show these features I am concerned that the average user of this digital manual will not have the computing power required to utilize the high level of graphics detail.

How important to you is the missing detail, would this missing stuff caus any confusion while using the digital manual?

    Thanks for participating and commenting

As long as you can still determine orientation and are aware of the missing details, I can't see it being a problem at all. Maybe you could offer both versions so those with the new G can still see all the detail and those in the stone ages can still benefit.

    Nice work as always.

I can't say whether I would miss it or not as I'd have to see it. However. if you take what you have and run it on an older computer like what you expect your students to have, you should get a pretty good idea of performance.
