Ok just getting to the mechanical and electrical of this new bike

First off drained the oil , having sat for 3 years i am sure it needs it, OMG there was over 6 quarts of oil in the crank case, I know it only needs 3 . took the side cover off to find the stator was submerged in oil, that can't be good can it?

what do I do clean it off ? let it be? Brake cleaner? degreaser?

hope to get a response by Saturday so I can tackle the problem head on

I would think yoyu could use Electical contact cleaner. You dont want anything that would leave a resadue or is flamable.

Don't know if carb cleaner will damage anything but if it is used mak sure it is dry before using the stator.

i would let the stator drip dry let it sit overnight they have oil in there anyhow why take the chance of spraying something that might eat off the insulation. wipe off the oil if you think it might hurt something . if it hasnt been ran your air filter probbibly isnt soaked but check it just in case . wouldnt be a bad idea to pull the plugs and turn it over just incase somehow oil got on top of the pistons you dont want to brake anything. i had a goldwing that i bought that was smoking bad it was a qt overfull drained it down ran fine afterwards could of been a mess with it being a flat 4

Don't use carburetor cleaner, use brake cleaner or contact cleaner.

Flush it out really good, blow dry with compressed air if available. It should be fine.

Definitely have a look in the air filter if there is any possibility the bike was run like that.

Also: was it pure (albeit old) oil? Or thinned out, as a gas/oil mix might be? It's possible a petcock/float failure could have drained the fuel tank into the motor.
