I don't know if it's a reflector housing with a replaceable bulb, or if you have to replace the entire lamp assembly.

If it just takes a replacement bulb, it will be an H4.

If it takes a lamp assembly it will be a 6024, but you want to make sure it's for motorcycles, not a car 6024. The bulb pattern on the MC bulb is different than on the car bulb.

You do know the headlight isn't supposed to come on until the motor's running, right?

Mirrors are commonly available; if you use aftermarket mirrors be sure you get a "Yamaha" set; on our bikes the RH mirror stalk is reverse-threaded.

Bigfitz. What about if the battery is good and I can make a good electrical connection?

The headlight is relay-operated. It will not come on until the engine starts, and the alternator starts making voltage.

Once ON, the headlight will stay on even if the engine stalls. But it won't come on until the motor starts.
