Been doing some work on the bike for the past week or so, and some questions arise with respect to this...

1 - What should I use to seal the new gaskets to the float bowl?

2 - I'm thinking about replacing the MC with a variant that sits on the handlebars instead of behind the headlights. Any suggestions?

3 - Considering a compressions check after the carbs are synched. Is there a link to a how-to?

1- you really don't need anything. If you really insist, give 'em a light shot of high-tack spray gasket sealer, on one side.

2- use one from any other handlebar M/C equipped XJ with dual front discs.

3- before or after, carbs not a consideration. AFTER valve adjust, yes.

Compression test: Fresh battery, TCI unit unplugged, all spark plugs removed, throttle held wide open. Spin motor until gauge stops rising, usually about 6-7 "cranks."

I've dug a little and found two models that use the same MC - Vmax 1997 and YX600 1990...
These look like worthy candidates, but then the lever and control assys have to be changed as well... Why on Earth did Yamaha use a complicated system such as this???
