Was going to dump my bucks into an xj550 rat bobber project but instead fell in love with a Hayabusa. I am keeping the xj and restoring it but just paint, exhaust, and new odds and ends. It'll be my woman's bike.

Sure wouldn't mind if someone let me borrow one for a weekend  ! BE CAREFUL on it. Had an EMT tell me that Hayabusa was Japanese for Organ Donor 8O ...

Ditto. Great bike but don't get crazy on it.

My son's got a Honda CBR 1000rr and that thing is scary fast. 100mph in first gear??!! That's nuts! Thank goodness I'm too old for the riding position or I'd be borrowing it for my speed fixes.

actually its a falcon. The hayabusa is either japanese for falcon or it is a specific type of falcon. And will be careful. There are three ranges, basically like a tractor... high medium and low (a, b, or c mode) but I am sure I will stick with c for now. It reduces the power by like 65% and its referred to as "chicken mode" I just have to remember to switch into it every time i start it up. But havn't even ridden it yet. I won't have it in my actual posession til next week.

I am and will always be a Yamaha nut. I love 'em and especially the xj models and fj600. But the hayabusa, to me, is like a ferrari. I mean, if I had my car of choice, it will always be a toyota. But if i had my car of choice and wasn't limited by money... It definitely would be a lambo or ferrari. The busa is exactly that to me and I figured its within reach. $9,500 bucks and to me that is a LOT and payed cash... no financing. I'll have gas money for it and no food in the house. LOL
I am the guy with the blog about harleys... rode a sporty 1200 and loved it but actually checked out an '08 v-rod limited (#44 of 200 made) and it sucked. Has balls and awesome engineering (thanx to porsche) but was so top heavy it scared me. Then sat my woman on the back and I FELT EVERY POUND OF HER back there... or I should say "up there" Top heavy. And the other harleys were like that.
I was going to get a Yamaha fz1 then looked at the FJR and didn't like that electric shift crap. And then there she was... sitting amongst all of the other yondakawazuki cxzjfx 650s and 1150s and so on.... it was like a lone beam of sun light shined down on her like in the movies. I pushed it out of the row and sat on it and.... almost thought i'd never need a woman again. Then the sales guy came out of nowhere with the keys and turned the ignition switch. Guages started moving and lights were blinking and electronics coming to life and I heard the high pitched whine of the fuel pump (electronic fuel injection, brothers and sisters...) And when I pressed the ignition button it didn't come blasting to life like a wild mustand, but sort of lifted its eyelids like an awakening dragon and gave me the most beautiful, docile purr I have ever heard an engine make. But when i felt the throttle, though smooth and without any resistance, hesitation or unexpected snap, I could feel the power.

So that was it. I withdrew everything I had saved in the bank for a new bike, went back to the dealer and handed it over.

My Yamaha is still my baby. That little xj550 maxim has seen me through so much and has been reliable, fun, killed a deer for me(hit a deer at 60mph and busted my leg) in august and I kept it on its wheels. Its going to be restored to stock except for the carb mods and the 4 into 1 exhaust. But I am not chopping it up like I was going to. It deserves respect. I'll get another xj to make a rat bobber out of.

So... ummm... how do you drive a motorcycle? Hahaha

The Concourse is a sweet bike too. I was checking one of those out but too much on the touring side. Not ready to settle down yet. But beautiful bikes for sure

I am actually thinking about having a pro train me before I ride by myself on it... Like someone who trains people specifically for sport bikes and something with that much power. i have no idea what it is going to be like. Scary but definitely in a good way

Congrats on the new toy... I get that same "warm fuzzy feeling" everytime I fire up the Vmax and hear her rumble... She is the same way... touch the ignition and she just wakes up, quietly purring with her deep sexy voice, that is till you twist the throttle and she ROARS like a crazed nymphomaniac on steroids.. Yup I know how you feel!!

All I have to say is ease into her. Take her out for a nice stroll it won't take long to gain confidence in your ability to control her... She'll need a gentle touch regarding the throttle it doesn't take much... more like just squeezing your fist at first, just a fraction of a movement. Before long you'll be rolling out and running up to 1/4 the 1/3 and 1/2 throttle. You don't full throttle these puppies off the line or in 1st gear and expect to do anythig but smoke tires. Eventually...you'll have the skills and confidence to run her. Just be safe... it's all in your wrist! For me it took a few hundred miles and really around 1k before I started to run the Vmax... Always on a long staight and with no one around (you need the space because you'll have some messy pants when done. You'll crap your draws at first and well, the other will be from excitement) With just over 5k this summer on her I'm getting used to her, but still more to learn... like how easy it is to bust the back tire loose!!! I crack the throttle and the bike jumps and then a second later the wheel rises just a little and then its like a rocket... I turn around to look and theres the evidence , a long black strip. She sure is a hottie since I got her tuned she's busting it in second what a blast... I love my bike... And I tell my wife everyday how much I love her and my Vmax aka "the mistress" :p be safe and Ride on.. Merry Christmas!!

The Hayabusa is on my list one place above the Concourse.
