Maybe I'm just slow, but I'm trying to figure out how to properly view the colortune.

When I adjust the pilot screws all the way in I can barely see a spark, As I slowly turn the screw out it starts to form a blue circle.
It still putts every 2 - 3 seconds, so I keep turning it out as the idle increases.
Now the putting has stopped and the circle is a steady blue.

It's running smooth, but I don't see any yellow in the circle.
So I keep turning it out until I see a little yellow on the outside edge of the blue circle.
Then I slightly turn it in until the yellow goes away.

I was also looking for different shades of blue, didn't see any.

Is that how it's supposed to be done ??
Because my sparkplugs are black as charcoal.

I'd appreciate any help.........It's almost ready to ride.

    Thanks

You are right on track buddy! Not all can see different shades of blue so when you see the tinge of orange turn the screw back in about 1/4 turn and you're set. The white spark you see is the sparkplug firing. Another diagnostic feature of the colortune. Tells you if your plugs are firing under compression. Then when you see a blue circle with putting every now and then that is a lean mixture rich enough to fire but lean enough to miss sometimes. Then it stops putting so that is close to right but could still be lean enough to overheat a valve or piston head. When you see the orange that is a slightly rich mixture. Just back from that is ideal.

How long of a ride did you go on after color tuning but before checking the plugs? If there was soot on them before it'll take a good hard ride to clear off.

I usually go for about 5 miles. If the fuel is burning it will burn the carbon off rather quickly. Main thing is to get it up to temp and keep the RPM up around 5k.

Performs as well as any plug costing four times as much.

If you replace your old plugs with NEW plugs ... all the crap on the old plugs won't matter anymore ... and, you can judge how well the mixture's been set by looking at how the new plugs look ... right after you get done dialing-in the last of the four holes!
