    look at the spring thats on your brake pedal to see if it hanging up on something then move the switch to see if it is stuck an free of dirt. It sound like the swith.

    Do I understand you to say that if you use the brake the light comes on and then doesn't turn off? How do you get the light back off?

    If you've narrowed the problem to the switch, and an adjustment doesn't resolve the problem you probably need to replace the switch.

    I know on mine that the only way I could get it to reliably turn off was to set it up so it took a lot of pedal travel for it to come on. I want it to come on just before I even think about depressing the brakes. Can do that with the new switch. My local stealership had it in stock. I don't remember the price but I didn't have a heart attack over it.

    yeah, I'm guessing the switch is stuffed..... well it is now anyway, I rippped some wires out when I was disconnecting it.... now the brake light only comes on with the front brake....

    Keep the spring that connects the pedal to the switch. It doesn't come with the new switch.

    I'll have a better look on the weekend.... I did a quick fix this morning as I was leaving for work..... I might not even bother replacing it, how often do you use the rear brake without the front anyway?

    Its a great way to slow down in a radar trap and not light it up that you are speeding { not condoning speeding or an unsafe bike}

    I actually use it a lot just to light the brake light if someone is following too close or I'm compression braking. When set up properly the pedal has a lot of travel (20mm if I recall correctly) before the brake starts to engage. That gives you an ideal way to light them up without dragging the brake.

    You need the Rear Brake Light working right. And, right ... means coming-on a bit before the Rear Brakes are about to engage. The traffic behind you is your number one threat. You can't do anything to avoid getting rear-ended but rig your bike to be the safest ride possible.

    I ADDED Rear Brake Lights, this Winter. A trio of 9-LED strips on the back of my Plastic Rear Cowl above the Brake Light.]

    On top of that ... I added the "Back-Off Brake Light Modulator" to flash those lights 5-Times before coming-on steady.

    I want the the traffic following me to know I'm slowing down and braking.
    If not ... and the people behind you don't know you are slowing-down or about to stop ... you're aching for an accident to happen with you getting the worst of it.

    This might not be as important a Mod to the Members in rural areas where Traffic isn't as dense and never gets bumper-to-bumper. But, now-a-days, with there being so much other "Electronic-accessory-distracted" people behind the wheel ... Unless they get an early warning of your intentions up ahead of them ... you're going to be the victim of a rear-end crash.

    They might not even drop the phone or spill the coffee.
    But, you're getting a ride in an ambulance for not having less than a hundred watts of warning of what you're trying to do!

    Rick, I'm looking forward to you getting some ride time with that modulator. I want to hear if you think people clear out from behind you like I think they do behind me.

    I'm starting to think a headlight modulator might be in order too.
