I noticed that I have a nail in my rear tire and it's not losing air. Can the tire be repaired like a car tire or should I replace it? If can be repaired where should I take it? I'm sure these are pretty stupid questions but help would be appreciated.

My vote will be to replace it, you have only 2 tires holding you up make sure they are both good. I would rather spend a 100 bucks on a new tire than risk having it blow out going down the road at 60 mph. When I replace a tire I like to do burn outs before to be sure the tire is bad, I'll burn it down to the cords. Thats the fun part.

The tyre can be repaired with a plug depending on where the nail has penetrated.
I know here in Oz different states have different laws regarding motorcycle puncture repairs so best to ask at your local shops regarding legal issues.
You can buy puncture repair kits to do at home or on the side of the road.
Probably best to get a professional repair though just for piece of mind.
How safe the plug repair is a matter for debate but I myself have done one on the side of the road and had it done professionally never had a problem.
No such thing as a stupid question mate, hope this is of some help.

    It can be repeared.

I run with a plug within my rear tire of the zx9R for about 20k km.

the tire is allmost slick, but the plug still holds...

However, the bike stoot still for about a year and a half now, and will for another year or so.... at the time it's about to be repeared, i need to change tires anyway....

I've seen some "mushroom" style plugs that look like they use the air pressure inside the tire to keep the plug seated, looks a little more secure to me than the old string type that is commonly used on cars

Don't even try to patch the tire.. Insert a new inner tube ... a 100% Fix.. that won't have you wondering if it's gonna 'let go'

If the tire has enough tread to warrant not wanting to replace it ... stick a tube in it.

If the tire is beyond 50% worn-down ... get yourself a new tire.

I picked-up a nail with a brand new tirie a couple of seasons back.
The tire shop repaired the tire by adding a patch to the inside of the tire.

    They spread the tire open.
Grind the area around the puncture.
    Put on some rubber cement.
Place a patch over the puncture and cure it with a heat gun.

I still had them put in a tube for piece of mind.
    Save the tubeless tire stem.
You'll need it in the future when you go back to a tubeless tire.
