I hope there are no Forum Members affected by the recent cataclysm which killed dozens and left thousands without food, water, shelter and their lives in ruins.
The Red Cross and Salvation Army have asked for donations of funds, food, clothing and blankets for those who were rendered homeless in the wake of the tornadoes which affected so many.

    Friday, March 02, 2012 —

American Red Cross volunteers opened shelters Friday night across tornado devastated areas as they continued to respond to storms that affected those same areas earlier in the week.

Tornado warnings were issued in more than a dozen states on Friday and damage reports across those states are widespread. As those storm rolled through, the Red Cross continued to distribute meals and operate shelters in places such as Harrisburg, Illinois and Branson, Missouri where storms struck on Wednesday.

By six o’clock Friday night, the Red Cross had opened additional shelters in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. Red Cross damage assessment teams will be out in force on Saturday to determine what the needs of tornado ravaged communities might be.

There are also numerous reports of missing people and the Red Cross Safe and Well website is available for people looking for loved ones.

These storms come on the heels of tornadoes that pummeled Alabama in January. This elevated tornado activity comes earlier than usual and means that the Red Cross must be prepared to respond to tornadoes and other disasters year round.

You can help the Red Cross by making an online donation or texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation, od online at our Official site:

From Mount Washington ky, I had slightly larger than golfball size hail but my parents 3 miles away had serious roof damage from even larger hail. Luckily, a funnel cloud we spotted decided it wanted to spare our area and never dropped.
