I joined this forum in 2009. I haven't used it much because I didn't have my XJ700. Although, I'm getting my first bike back (the exact same one!). So, I'll have two projects. The first, an almost complete Brafe (part cafe, part Brat style) 1972 Honda CB350 K4 (twin), and my XJ700.

I restored/rebuilt a 1985 XJ700 in 1994/1995. From that time, it has been at my father's house. I am planning a trip at the end of this month to bring her back home. Fortunately, my dad has been keeping up the regular maintenance and whatnot... Although, she does need a few little things:

-one of the screw holes for the chrome airbox cover has gotten larger and needs repair or replacement.
    - one of the airbox covers needs replacement due to the lower tab being broken off.
    - runs rough when damp/raining (suspect it to be coils going bad).
    - nasty noise coming from front of bike (suspect either brake system or wheel bearing)...will find out when I get it.
    - clean the K&N filter (installed in 1995), probably never been cleaned!
    - may need new seat cover(s).

    Welcome back !!
    Ideas -
-one of the screw holes for the chrome airbox cover has gotten larger and needs repair or replacement.
Use a soldering iron and "push" some plastic into the too-large hole.

    - runs rough when damp/raining (suspect it to be coils going bad).
Remove coils, clean, dry, soak them and the wires with Silicone spray, 2 applications. And Ohm- test them too.

Hi Warthog. Great to see new old members :) I'd love to see some pictures of both the bikes. I have a '71 CB350 which will need A LOT of work once I get around to it. It doesn't sound like you need a lot of work on the XJ to have it road ready!

Welcome back! It's nice that someone you trust has been keeping it maintained. What a bonus! As others mentioned, we love updates and we love photos, so keep 'em coming! :)
