Relay bad, bypassed cutoff

    82 650 seca. was getting no starter button, checked the wiring to the cutoff and kick stand relays. wiring all good. had lights horn etc. but no start button. Jumped the red/white wires at the cutoff terminal. Now the
    start button fired the starter, had spark, fed gas to the carbs, applied enrichment and the engine fired up.
    It only ran for ten seconds then quit. No start button again even with bypassing the cutoff relay. No fuses blown. lights, horn, signals work. What other device could kill the start button ?

    Neutral switch, clutch switch, sidestand switch, Run switch.

    All of the above are analogue.
    Meaning all can have bad contacts.

    if neutral light is on that would mean neutral switch is good,right ?
