Got the crank case split. But i cant remove the starter clutch gear. The one that is attached with a 30mm nut. Any ideas for how to hold it still while removing it?

Do you mean the clutch nut in the centre of the basket? I ask because I have not seen a starter clutch with a 30mm nut. You need a clutch basket holding tool like this or make one out of scrap metal, easy to do if you have the time. The nut has a locking tab you need to flatten too.

Sorry, its not 30mm. I got the clutch basket of. Its the sprocket on the other side of the engine. I think Clymer calls it the main drive sprocket or something.

Is it a chain drive bike or shaft drive?

Final drive or main drive sprocket. Ok if you have a vice with jaws wide enough you can put two pieces of timber on the sprocket and tighten the vice so the sprocket teeth bite into the timber. Then try and slacken the nut.
