Removing Cluster on a 82 xj650-Any Tips/Pointers/Advice???

    What is the best way to remove the cluster with minimum hangups?

    what are you trying to put in its place. I did the same thing i put a koso digital gauge. love it and works great. really easy to set up. i have one problem i just need to rewire the nutral switch to it isn't always on. just haven't had time to work out the little bump yet. believe i have everything else workign great.

    Bobby, if you have any hope of reselling, DON'T cut any wires. You only have a few connectors to uncouple anyway....they're all in the headlight bucket. Remove the headlight ring so you can get in the bucket and ust trace the wires from the cluster to the connector and disconnect. Then disconnect the speedometer cable. Then remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the cluster to the top of the headlight bracket. You're done.

    Now, here's a question/thought:

    You're in upstate NY....WHERE? I am just a bit south of Utica, I will be hosting the Central New York Carburetor Clinic #5 at my house on June 9, 2012. If you wish to attend, that would be awesome, and I can show you how to remove the cluster at that time.

    NOw, what is the condition of the cluster? I might be interested in it, myself.
