    Hi all,

In the process of cleaning my carbs and I'm having trouble figuring out how to dismantle the starter plunger/cold start plunger. I want to spray carb cleaner down there to make sure the passage is clean, but I can't figure out how to get it off. Haynes Manual says "plunger can be unscrewed from carburetor" but doesn't give any other detail. I've attached a picture to show what I'm talking about. Thanks!

Yes. Use a wrench on the brass hex. It unscrews counter-clockwise, like most screws.

I think you can also pry the cap off and take it out with a socket.

Gotcha. Tried prying off the rubber head but it felt really difficult so I wasn't sure if that was the way to go. Thank you!

that's what you have to do, a heat gun should soften the rubber
put some rubbing compound or tooth paste on the plunger and spin it in the hole to get a good seat.
