OK. So I have gone through the rite of passage to remove a broken exhaust header stud. While doing so I have damaged the head a bit more than can be repaired with the heli-coil. That is, I have made the boss that the stud threads into a bit too large now, just at the surface. So once I do the heli-coil repair, the coil won't be supported at the outside surface. What are my options for building up the boss area to fully support the thread repair? I guess I could get the head welded then re-drill. But that is a little more involved than I want at this stage. In another post, someone mentioned using woodstove cement. Thoughts?

Weld in some aluminum filler then drill and tap.
