A PO replaced the handlebars on my Maxim with low profile (Seca) ones. Unfortunately, he didn't replace anything else, which has led to a very un-level master brake cylinder and all sorts of difficulties with the angle of the rear view mirrors. And I HATE those fat, spongy grips.

At this point, it would be far cheaper for me to just put back the original, semi-high risers. I've seen them used for around $35.

I've never done a handlebar swap. It looks pretty straight forward - pull off the brake/clutch assemblies and the switches. Then it's four bolts.

Anything I should be aware of?

I would watch for the cable lengths... In case they replaced them with shorter ones... I would like to try drag bars on my Maxin... Just not sure how it would look yet

The grips or the handlebars? :)

The grips are glued on. Only way to get them off is with an Xacto blade.
