Strange issue recently. The actual face of my rev counter cracked right across under the needle?

I was out riding, doing between 60 and 70mph when a thin line appeared across the clock face. I thought it was something which had dislodged inside the clock, but the face was cracked right across.

The clock is an electronic rev counter as fitted standard to my XJ750A 1981.

I opened the clock up yesterday and glued it back together again, but just wondering if anybody else had the same issue?
