RiderParts.com to search for used parts

    As an update regarding my search for an engine for my 400 Seca (after I killed the original engine with a lost oil plug), I came across the RiderParts.com site, where you can send out a nationwide request for parts to salvage yards.

    I received about 10-12 responses from yards with complete engines for sale!

    I ended up buying one that has only 4K miles on it. The bike was wrecked many years ago and stored inside. My "new" engine arrived today. I can't work on it this weekend, but hopefully I'll have my baby Seca back on the road soon.

    In case some of you didn't know about RiderParts.com, I thought I'd put out this heads up for people looking for parts.

    Shipping from IL to LA was $79 via FedEx, and only took 2 days.

    That was a lot better than the $150 from WI that I had been quoted, via a trucking company (which also would not deliver to my home).

    The engine arrived in good shape yesterday.
