I am looking for some people around Southwest Michigan to ride with but I also need to be cleaning the carbs in a few months and, as a new rider, would appreciate some experienced advice. Is anyone else around here?

    Hey Swampfox!
I live in New Buffalo, and am now working on the starter clutch in my '83 XJ750. It's not grabing at all. I'm following a post about repairing it, with out removing the engine.
Currently I ride a '82 Suzuki GS1100G. I'm always riding a loop that includes most of the towns between here and Niles, and St. Joe to Valparaiso.
I have some printed info on cleaning the Mikuni carbs on my Suzuki. The main point is to keep the parts organized, do one carb at a time.
You're going to find much info from members on this site.

Read "old school carb cleaning" posted by Rick Massey (a.k.a. RickoMatic) and if you take the time to religiously follow it, step by step, you WILL succeed. SKIP A STEP or try to take shortcuts, and ya on ya own, D'Artagnan. A Mikuni on any other brand of bike is still a Mikuni, and Rick has them sussed.
