So let's see..... I was out riding this afternoon, temp about 23 degrees. Speed, oh somewhere around 50, though there were some bursts of around 90+/-. Uh.........yeah, that was on a snowmobile going across some wide-open fields :)

This reminds me of a question that a new riding instructor asked me when I was taking the Team Oregon course 15 or so years ago. She asked, "What is one thing hat can happen to you when riding for an hour, without a jacket, at 55MPH, on a 70 degree day?" Having just finished a course in first aid I smartly answered, "Mild to moderate hypothermia, depending on the rider's body size." She said I was wrong :(

In Oregon? Nope. The answer she was looking for was "you will likely get hit by a bee." of all things. She had that happen to her the day before.
It can happen, but I thought the other answers the class gave were just as valid.

I got hit by a bee on a bike in Oregon. Got stung too. Speed irrelevant, in fact, faster and the little sucker might have died before he could sting me. Jacket may or may not have helped, hit me right in the "V" of my shirt, where I don't usually zip my jacket all the way up, anyway. I've also been hit in the leg with a rock, nothing helps that.

Just out of curiosity was this a test question fo your licence or just a general knowledge question by the instructor.
I had one come in through a partially opened full face helmet while behind a windshield, got me in the right eye. Was on the shoulder picking guts, wings and legs out for like 20 minutes...and it hurt!

I got a wasp down my shirt and they sting over and over; got the bike stopped without dropping it and then the nasty managed to get away before I could smite it. :x

I caught a june-bug in the eye once, watched the bugger loaf in a little arc and just clear my windshield. Made my head snap back and hurt like the dickens. Pulled over with one eye covered, both eyes watering like crazy.

Ugh, not a fun thing to have happen. Probably waited 20 minutes for the pain to stop enough for my eyes to stop watering so I could see and drive again.

That's the reason I can't drive without some kind of eye protection right on my face, or a full face at least.

I think I got real lucky last summer, had a wasp fly into my helmet.
I wasn't really sure if it was in my helmet, or not, after we hit.
So after say, 10 seconds, I was so unsure that I just wanted to double-check.
Took the helmet off and ... indeed, a wasp somewhere near my cheek.
It didn't sting and fell on the street. Then flew away. Lucky lucky me.

I absolutely agree on the eye protection remark.

Anyway, nice chart. I've always been curious about the wind-chill factor

It was a general knowledge question of the type that I use to get my students to engage their brains before I begin a lesson. The instructor was doing the same thing.

While I have been it by insects while riding (try seeing thought a faceshield that has suddenly become covered with 10,000 gnats) I still think the instructor should have addressed the other answers that were given instead of dismissing them as being "incorrect." She did a great job in teaching the class overall.

The answer could also have been "hit a bird". Bluejays at 70MPH are not fun. Hit so hard it pulled my left hand off the bars. Luckily I had enough riding experience that My right hand and left arm worked independently of each other and I didn't twist the throttle. That could have ended badly.

That was 18 years ago on a CB750f, another inline 4 that I loved.

Yeah, it was 52 or so here in N Mich on Saturday, and I headed out for a bit. Was glorious, and only a little chilly.

I feel sorry for you guys in the warmer climes, all that extra maintenance due to riding season being longer (year round?)
