Left is perfect - right no signal lights and no dash indicator light - flasher unit buzzes when right turned on and stops when turned off - power going to flasher under tank but only buzzes when right signaling - wouldn't it either work or not work - is it common that one side works and not the other ? ground ? If flasher unit needs replacement can I purchase at auto parts store - help

You can replace the stock flasher with a two-prong electronic flasher. BUSS 552LL (or 522LL, I can never remember) is what I used. About $5 at the auto parts.

    However

If the left is working correctly, it sounds more like a bulb or a ground problem on the right side indicators.

    New bulbs?
    Signal stems tight?
Have you replaced or repainted anything recently? i.e., handlebars, indicators, indicator stems?

bulbs look fine - will replace just in case not visable - stems tight - no repaint recently - since switch on handlebar activates the buzzing it should be ok ( this was my major concern the handlebar switch ) may run a jumper wire from block to each bulb to try and locate poor ground - if it doesn't work then off with the head lol - sorry off with the tank - forgive me I'm of Scottish heritage lol - then use jumper at flasher to locate anything there - thanks tskaz

No problem, had some of the same issues. Sounds like your switch should be good. But take it apart and clean it with spray electrical cleaner anyways.

solution found thanks to your help tskaz - removed flasher unit - took apart - some rust - removed as best I could between contacts - still didn't work - removed switch from handle bar like you suggested - lubricated the turn signal lever last yesr thinking that foreign matter over the years might be able to enter gap between lever and body and to prevent additional wear - the philips screw that the lever pivots on was loose and lubricant had wicked in under washer causing current to stop - cleaned parts and everything working again - another fastener that should be checked when maintaining our XJ's - thanks
