I rode the new FZ6R on Friday, basically in europe Yamaha has the FZ6 like we had here last year with aluminum frame and R6 engine, I owned one and hated the engine no power till 7000 then lightswitch, horrible for driving in town. In Europe for 09, they came out with a new divvey, a cheaper version of the FZ6, but naked, with crommoly frame and divvey engine instead of the R6 engine. Here in the usa, that bike is now the 09 FZ6R with full farring. So I had to ride it. The handling is great as is the seating position, however the engine is the pits, it is very linear, with decent power, but forget torque, my 550 seca has way more torque, I would deffinitly take my seca engine. It probably didnt help that I rode my SV1000 over to the dealer to try it.

I just can't take the RIDING POSITION for very long. My commute to work is 63 miles one way, when I get off the Seca I feel like it was a 10-minute ride. The racer-replicas LOOK cool, for about 10 minutes. This is one of the primary reasons I CHOOSE to ride 25+ year old bikes.

Yes, 63 miles each way. In and out of Detroit. Not year 'round, IN SEASON!!! It's only in the twenties here (Fahrenheit.) I do have a car, I use it in the winter. It has heated seats.

I looked at th FZ6 last year and was serious about buying one. I am happy I decided not to. Although they had good reviews, I can't sit in that position for very long and it would just sit in the shop. I rode an FJR and really liked the power, brakes and electric windshield, but again, that seating position just gets old too soon for me. I guess I'm just too old school, feet forward kinda guy.
