I want to go to round slide carbs but was wondering what size I should go with? I have an 82 xj650 maxim and plan on getting 4 into 1 or 4 into 2 Mac megaphone exhaust. I have K&N pods but may even do some sort of ram air intake.

Which brand & type are you considering? 2 or 4 carb setup?

I'm gonna keep the four carb setup. As far as brand....was thinking Mikuni but I don't know for sure. Got any recommendations? Also, do you think round slide is best? Someone on this forum told me to get some round slide racing carbs, but I see Flatslide carbs on ebay too. Always like to hear different opinions.

I've got Mikuni round slides. They won't work in a rack, they are separate with manual chokes. So you will need the rack type. Flat slides work just as well. One of the forum members put a Kehein CR rack on his bike, can't recall who. Probably 32mm would be the right size. Have you searched the manufacturers websites?

Yeah, I've been looking at the CR's and FCR Flatslides. What I find is a range for 600cc between 32/35 and 750cc between 35/39. One site actually said to run 31's. I think 32 sounds right seeing as thats what is on there now, but just want to make sure. Those carbs are pricey, but I like what I have read about them so far. Thanks for the info!
