rubbish idle then stalls

    basically, my xj550 runs fine, but when you let it sit there on tick over, the revs steadily drop off and then it stalls, the carbs were meant obe ballanced by the previous owner about a month ago. any thoughts?

    Is this when it's dead cold and on choke, or after 30 mins of riding?

    I'm still doing the tuning dance myself, soon i'll be ordering a new colortune and carbtune from Len me thinks... That'll lick it.

    What do your plugs look like after 20 seconds of so of idling, tat will tell you (us) a good starting point for adjustment.

    Valves in spec? That's first.

    Then float levels (really important on the 550s)

    and carb sync.

    When you get it 100% it should idle like a sewing machine.
