Hi have a question. Noticed my dash and running light did not work last night. headlight on turn signal work and brake lights work. checked the fuses they all seem fine. took the headlight off, nothing that i noticed seemed out of order.

any suggestions where to look next. thanks.

the fuse might be good but is the fuse connection good?

i had good connectors but if the fuse was wiggled just slighty. my lights quit.

i've also seen fuses themselves that would break the connection at the end of the fuse. inside the aluminum tubing where you couldn't see.

the best way to tell is take a test light. make sure it lights up on both ends of the fuses. a voltmeter will work also. you could also use the voltmeter to make sure you have close to 0 ohms on the fuse. (or some type of low number indicating the fuse isn't broken).

I will check that. they are blade fuses though. just going out to take another look at it right now.

I should also add they did come on for a few seconds after i noticed they were not working last night. while riding instument pannel lite up but then went out again.

Headlight is on a separate fuse from the instruments on your bike fatman. It is up in the headlight bucket (PITA design). I'm voting on a bad fuse block. Had similar experiences as you gents with my 81 650H. Replaced the fuse block, problems went away. You mention that you have blade fuses already but that is not a guarantee that it was done right. Check it out.

noticed front left signal does not work red running light on in the back, the yellow turn signal stays off only untill you put the signal on right? instument panel still out. would a broken signal light in the front effect the instument panel light?

    fixed!!!

front left signal conntector loose inside the headlight bucket. when i pinch it together everthing works fine. going to go put a new one on right now. I guess it does have something to do with completeing the run to the dash.

thanks for the post's and for the info on the old forums. could not keep this bike going without this site.

    John.
