Here are some pictures of my new saddlebag supports. They are made from 1/4" rod and the tabs are made from 1/8" by 1" flatbar. Painted with grey rust paint.

They ended up being a little longer than I wanted so the passenger pegs have to be either up or down.

Hardware is stainless steel from Brofasco. The four bolts and washers were the most expensive part of the project.

Last year, without supports, one of the bags caught on the axel nut and tore the stitching. These should put an end to that problem.

I went one step better and instead of just having them hanging straight down, I bent the bottom out 90* to let the bags actually sit on them. I used the idea for my other bike (V-twin with both pipes on the right side) to keep the saddlebag from touching the muffler when I have more weight in them. I used 1/4" round stock and ust painted them to keep from rusting.
