just ordered some 1988 savage 650 shocks. Will the bushings on them work, if not what are good bushings to make fit?

I just installed some on my '82 XJ750 so not sure if they're exactly the same but I had to install a different bushing (see pic below - bushing above the tape measure 1/2" ID and 3/4" long) in the lower mount on the right (passenger  ) side. Otherwise everything bolted right on but I had to use the same bushing as spacers on the upper shock mount too since I ditched the grab bar.

Keep something in mind regarding using Suzuki Savage shocks on an XJ:

The Suzuki Savage had a "curb" (wet) weight of 377 lb.

Your XJ700 weighs in at 502lbs, wet (curb weight, full of gas and oil.)

Spring and damping rates may be a bit "light" considering the 125lb. difference.
