Hi everybody, I joined some time ago but never really used the site much as i had no real need to repair anything on my maxim. unfortunately I the same is not true today...

I sold my '82 650 to a teenager and let him make payments on the bike. i know huge mistake... :x and now i have half of the payoff and whats left of the xj bobber that i sold to him. needless to say i will be needing some technical help repairing the wiring errors he made and fixing the problems the bike came back with, my goal is to have a running and riding maxim by the spring time.

I am at work right now but I will post pictures tonight when I am home of the bike before the bob, during and afterwards, I'll also include some of the damage photos of the bike when I got it back.

    Thanks :)

You get good karma points for trusting said knucklehead in the first place. Sorry it did not work out.
Is the damage to the bike from him working on it or crash damage or just plain stupid damage.
If it helps I have the remains of a 1980 Maxim 650 that I bought for next to nothing with a 1 piece motor (no moving parts) and no title. Wire harness did not appear to be messed up and there are a bunch of hard parts usable. Can be had for very little more than shipping. Let me know.

unfortunately both from wrecking it and ripping out the wiring and trying to put it back wrong, he had the brake light wired to the turnsignal on the clutch side...
