Does anyone know if i can use a seat from a different year 650? I have an 1980 650 Maxim and its just too big, are other years going to fit on mine?

Too big how? The Seat is just pan, foam and cover. You can remove the cover and change the foam. As long as you match the same basic contours the cover should fit if you want to lower it a bit.

Not sure exactly what you are after...

Sorry I'm new at this, but thats kinda what i wanted, yes lower there is too much foam I took that out and just have the pan. but also the width of the back part of the seat, i'd rather something not as wide.

Got it, we have surpassed my expertise. I have recovered them before. You can modify the pan or build your own but then you would probably need a custom cover.

If you are down to the pan only you won't get any lower of course. Others have lowered their bikes if it is an overall height issue. The experts here can help you with that if you are interested.

There are a ton of after market seats out there too. JC Whitney actually has some and cross references them. You can look up your bike and see what other bikes the seat will fit in terms of size. Be aware that most of these seats are foam and a cover that you apply to your pan, so probably not much help to what you are looking for.

Hope that helps some at least...
