There is a complete Seca 900 for sale in my neighborhood for pretty cheap. The bike hasn't been ridden for several years, The owner said he bought that bike with the plan to fix it for a friend. The bike appeared to be a more serious fix thatn expected so the friend changed his plans and bought something else.

The engine runs well (said the seller). The main problem with that bike is that the fuel tank leaks from pin holes at the front end (unusual, I guess). Seller said he tried to fix it , but without success.

I'm supposed to go see the bike early next week. I plan to do a compression test to know if the engine is good enough to make that bike road worthy.

My question is about the tank: how hard could it be to find a good spare tank for that model and year (1983)? Is there any viable alternative that wouldn't require too much mod and fab?

I hope the seller doesn't put any Kreem in the tank in an attempt to "fix" the leak.

I replied to your email, but here's the reply, too.............

I will check to see if I have an extra tank--

The only tanks that are a match are the xj900rk, and the xj750rl.
