I need to refinish the black trim panel that is just under the glass on the instrument cluster. The exploded view shows this part as the "meter cover" Does anyone know how that particular panel (just the cover) comes apart?

That one is a real pain in the arse. The metal cover is held in place by a plastic frame that is GLUED to the instrument housing. Most you can do is try not to butcher the plastic frame too much as you peel it off. It will probably break in a couple of spots, but you should still be able to epoxy/superglue it back together.

Thanks for the reply. So if I understand correctly, the glass, black metal panel, and the plastic frame make up the meter cover as a unit and are not readily separated????

Right... well, actually, the plastic frame is really the only problematic part. The others come out just fine, once that frame is removed.
