Should this gap be there?

I've had a rear end shunt recently, and while checking the bike I found that there is a gap between the right hand end of the swing arm, and the frame.

Despite replacing the swingarm bearings some months ago, I havn't noticed a gap, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there before. The gap is about ¼" or 6.35mm wide. You can see the threaded adjuster in the gap, and I have checked; it is done up tight.

So if some (or even one) of you could go and look at your swingarm and tell me whether there should be a gap, and if so how wide should it be, I would be most grateful. The bike has a UK spec XJ650 rolling chassis, though I suspect that the arrangement is the same on all the 650s.

5-6 mm is fine, as you know you centre the s/arm with the pins from both sides, then torque & lock nut them.

Thank you, Wizard. I was fairly convinced that it was alright, but I wanted to make sure before the insurance company got the repair estimate.
