I’ve been throwing around the idea of building a sidecar for my Maxim 8O. Sure would be nice to take the whole family for a Sunday ride… I don’t want to spend too much $ on the sidecar, that’s why I thought of building one. I’m wondering if there are any manufacturers that sell just the fiberglass body or DIY kit? Maybe I’m doing this all wrong and should consider getting a used sidecar that needs some TLC and use that as the start of my project?

I have never ridden a bike with a sidecar and I’m sure the ride, handling and braking changes quite a bit when you add that 3rd wheel and put some weight in it. Any thoughts or experience with this type of riding :?:

    Some good info at http://www.sidecarcanada.com

The links to the Sidecar Industry Council gives some good info on the required geometry of setting up a sidecar and the link to the owners club may have some leads for second hand ones.

    Cheers

Side cars changes everything about the way a bike rides if you go with a solid mount. Bike will not lean to the side car side.If you lean the other way you are going to fast.Harsher ride as well with out suspension on the side car. Great for the movies and the good old days. Wouldn't want one if I had one. Besides, how do you enjoy the ride talking. My opinion.

well well well i've had a sidecar rig for years
it is a original jawa/velocet rig!

i do recomend the sidecar thing specially for getting stuff or
    taking people, etc.

but thasts why i bought the seca so i could have a bike w/o
    the sidecar!

i think the jawa 350/640 is a bit weak for a sidecar
so a xj would be better!

i would wait and see if you can find a velorex or
bmw rig and then just stick it to your bike!

i know some people in canada who had or were selling some i'll let know ok?
