    Hello albear,

I think the tank removal on your bike will be the same as on mine.

First, turn the fuel petcock to the off position and remove the rubber vacuum lines. (Make sure to inspect the lines for any cracks or dry rotting once the tank is off) Next, open up your seat and there should be a bolt at the rear of the tank, under the seat. Remove that bolt and the rubber damper. Now all you have to do, lift up on the rear of the tank a little and pull the tank away from the forks and it should slide off of the two dampers mounted on the frame. If the tank hasn't been removed for a while it may be a little hard to pull off the dampers.

That's it!! At least that's how it is for my bike, I'm sure if it is any different someone will let you know.

albear- dont forget the fuel level sending unit. it is a 2-wire connector that runs by the tank bolt and near the battery

Actually, from looking at the fiche for the '83 Seca 900 (the only year we got here) it looks like it's similar to the Seca 650.

If it is, inside the "tunnel"at the rear of the tank there is a large metal clip that locks onto the head of a retaining bolt. Pull that clip off (rearward) to release the rear mount.

That model doesn't have a fuel level sender, they use the rock the bike side to side & listen method. ;o)

I was just curious Albear, do you have a plate covering a hole in the tank's tunnel where the sender would be, or is the hole not cut out??

You answered my question. You can't just remove a plate and bolt in a fuel sender.
